With the launch of Microsoft Surface Studio, it has taken the Silicon Valley by storm. You just cannot keep the tech giant at bay. Microsoft Surface Studio is giving stiff competition and we shouldn’t be surprised if it takes a leap giant ahead of the new MacBook Pro.

Let us do a detailed comparison between the two flagships:

Microsoft Surface Studio

The Surface Studio comes with a giant 28 inch 4.5K “PixelSense” display with 4500 x 3000 pixels, equivalent to 192 dpi.

Microsoft PixelSense (formerly called Microsoft Surface) is an interactive surface computing platform that allows one or more people to use and touch real-world objects, and share digital content at the same time. The PixelSense platform consists of software and hardware products that combine vision based multi-touch PC hardware, 360-degree multi-user application design, and Windows software to create a natural user interface (NUI).

The Surface Studio is the thinnest in the world for all-in-one PC with 12.5mm thickness. The screen is also capable of being used in both the DCI-P3 and sRGB color spaces.

A unique feature of Surface Studio is the zero-gravity hinge like design which enables the user to transform the desktop into a studio mode which is a boon for artists and designers.

The bezel of the display contains a 5.0-megapixel camera and a Windows Hello-compatible backlit infrared camera.

The CPU and other parts are located at the base and are very compact and are very lite. The Surface Studio comes with “Skylake” 6th generation processor and NVidia GTX graphic processor depending on which configuration you choose. The Surface Studio can be configured up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and 2TB hard drive.

Skylake is the code name used by Intel for a processor micro-architecture which was launched in August 2015 succeeding the Broadwell micro-architecture. Skylake is a micro-architecture redesign using the same 14 nm manufacturing process technology as its predecessor Broadwell, serving as a “tock” in Intel’s “tick-tock” manufacturing and design model. According to Intel, the redesign brings greater CPU and GPU performance and reduced power consumption. It will be succeeded by “Kaby Lake” and “Cannonlake”.

The revolutionary accessory which Microsoft introduced with the Surface Studio is the Surface Dial which can do different functions according to the use and can be used from outer as well as keeping on the Surface studio’s screen.

The Surface Pen was also continued with the Surface Studio with the eraser on the top. The Surface Pen can easily stick to the side of the screen and is customized with the Microsoft Windows 10.

All in all the Microsoft Surface Studio is a great all-in-one desktop and can be great gizmo for artists and graphic designer but is very expensive for a normal user.

MacBook Pro 2016

So finally after 4 years, the MacBook Pro’s design is revamped and it’s actually a better, faster and advanced upgrade over the 3rd Gen MacBook pro.

The 4th gen MacBook pro was introduced with a Touch Bar, a multi-touch OLED strip which replaced the function keys.

Apple also introduced Touch ID sensor on the right side along the Touch Bar which acts as a power button as well as a fingerprint sensor.

The new MacBook Pro has a unibody design and the retina display comes with 2880×1800(top model) i.e. 5K display.

The MacBook pro also has Skylake processor for fast processing which enables MacBook pro to run almost any high ending software.

It supports a 720p FaceTime HD camera for HD video calling. MacBook Pro has Thunderbolt lightning 3 (USB-C) ports for fast transfer of data, however, this means you cannot connect a device with a USB Type-A cable.

The graphic processor is a discrete Radeon Pro DDR5 in addition to the Integrated Intel graphics.

The audio quality of the MacBook pro is impressive and is the best in the MacBook range. The Trackpad is also spacious for better handling of the MacBook pro.

The MacBook pro 15-inch with touch bar is a costly affair. There is no memory card slot and lacks USB Type-A slot this means every time you need a dongle to connect. The battery life is also short as rated and the MagSafe is obsolete now.
