But despite using it for only one purpose, you can use this so-called simplest text editor to create executable programs, scripts, websites (old fashioned HTML style) and literally destroy any PC (let’s avoid this one).

  • Replace password with your own password.
  • Save your file as .vbs. Give any name you wish for the file, for example, Lock.vbs.
  • Now, double click on Lock.bat file then a new folder named as Lock is created.
  • Save your files in Lock folder then again double click on the Lock.bat, a prompt is displayed.
  • To lock the folder press “y ” in the prompt.

  • To unlock press “n”  in the prompt.

 

2. Create Fake Windows Errors Message Using Notepad

You can create fake windows error message with your written message. To pull off this notepad tricks, follow these simple steps:

  • Open Notepad
  • Copy the text below and paste into notepad:

  • Replace Error Message and Error Title with your message and title respectively.

  • Save this file as .vbs. For example, error.vbs.

3. Format Your Hard Drive With Notepad

Did you know that you can format your hard disk using nothing but Notepad? That’s right. No Command prompt, no series of commands, just a simple Notepad is enough to format your hard disk in a hassle-free manner. Here’s how you can pull off this trick:

  • Open Notepad.
  • Copy the following binary code in the notepad:

  • Save this file as format.exe. Or give any name you wish for the file. But the extension should be .exe.

Note: Take a backup of your primary drive, to make sure there are no important files left behind. And be careful while using it.

4. Notepad As Digital Diary

How about using Notepad as your digital diary? Yes, you can do this and automatically insert date-time information for every line you type in notepad. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Open Notepad.
  • Type .LOG at the top.
  • Save this file as Log.txt
  • Now type few lines and close the file. Open the file and you will see date-time information is saved to each line of text.

5. Make CD Drive Pop Out Again And Again Using Notepad

This trick would be a good prank to play on your friends. To use this trick, follow the steps given below:

  • Open Notepad

How about instead going through your regular system shutting down process, you could just double-click on a file to force shut-down? Yeah, I know it would only save your one click but still worth to try it. Follow the steps given below:

  • Open Notepad.
  • Copy the text below and paste into notepad:

  • Open Notepad.
  • Type Q33N.
  • Change font to Wingdings and font size to a higher value(say 72).
  • And this is what you will get..

9. Convert Text to Speech Using Notepad

This trick will allow you to convert any text to speech without any need of third-party software. Here’s how you can pull off this notepad trick:

  • Open Notepad.

If you want to check whether your antivirus is working properly or not, then the European Institute for Computer Antivirus Research (EICAR) code is what you looking for. This is an amazing trick to check your antivirus. How to do this? It’s simple just follow the steps given below:

  • Open Notepad.
  • Copy the text below and paste into notepad:

  • Save this file as testantivirus.exe.

Another Notepad trick to play on your friend’s PC. This trick is simple but powerful enough to crash (not permanently) any PC. Here’s how you can pull off this notepad trick:

  • Open Notepad.
